What were the differences between the populations of Athens and Sparta? How can these differences be explained?

| In those ancient times, Sparta was very different from Athens, and therefore, wars were often fought between them. First, there was a democracy in Athens, and a king ruled in Sparta. Secondly, Sparta was a military state, and Greece was a democratic one – there all issues were resolved at a popular meeting. In addition, the Spartans were greatly deepened in their military traditions, which also made a difference in the way of life of the population of these two states.
